The purpose of the Young Musicians Festival is to provide an adjudicated performance opportunity for students of public school age who are receiving private instrumental and/or voice instruction. Students are expected to prepare and perform two pieces from memory. A "required" piece is selected from the YMF syllabus and a "choice" piece is selected by the teacher to align with the YMF competency level. These performances are adjudicated by two professionals who give written comments and a rating (1 - 5 points) on the students’ performances. Each performer receives a certificate according to their achievement rating. Points accumulate annually and are noted on the student's record. When 15 points have been acquired in a category, the student receives a gold cup. Further points are accumulated toward a second or third gold cup. More information, including accessing syllabi, for each YMF Festival Division can be found below.
IMPORTANT: ONLY STUDENTS' TEACHERS ARE TO COMPLETE APPLICATION FORMS. TEACHERS MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE SCHUBERT CLUB AND COMPLETE APPLICATIONS ONLINE. PAYMENTS MADE VIA CREDIT CARD WILL NOT INCUR ANY EXTRA FEES.
