We appreciate your continued support through our concerts and the Concerto Competition.
Our Winter Concert is on Saturday March 7 at 7:30pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield.   We hope you’ll join us for Beethoven’s Leonore Overture #3, Elgar’s Cello Concerto with soloist Gjorgj Kroqi and the premiere of Dr. Rex Cadwallader’s Symphony No. 5. Tickets available through our website: and at the door.
On behalf of the Board and Musicians: Thank you very much!

The Survey Results are in!

20 people responded to the survey. It seems like we are doing a good job satisfying the majority’s needs of our loyal attendees. We will continue to provide the Schubert Club members and other music lovers with the high quality programming that we have always provided over the past 20 years.
Of the 20 people, 80% attended a Concert/Lecture in the past two years.
60% either strongly agreed or agreed that the Concert/Lecture series has helped their professional development.
70% like the Darien First Congregational Church location.
70% of the respondents want the focus to be on different styles of music, 50% like the focus of specific composers.
52% of the respondents come based on the subject matter, 36% come based on the reputation of the lecturer/performer.
44% prefer the concert/lectures to be on Friday morning, followed by Wednesday and Sunday (both at 27%)
Respondents like a mixture of instrumental performers, and think that the Concert/Lectures are well organized “and executed as it is”.

YMF for Composition is new this year!

Have you wondered how to get your students interested in learning more about music notation and theory? How to make it relevant to them? To get into more depth about composition and musical form?

Please consider the Schubert Club Composition Festival. Each student submits one original composition for any instrument or ensemble, and they receive comments and points toward a Composition Gold Cup. I have found that my students learn so much about music from this experience, and you don’t have to be a composer to help them with the process. It’s easier and more fun than you might think! The rules, minimum length requirements and other information can be found under the YMF tab on, or click here.

The composition submission via email deadline is March 1st, 2020. Please let me know if you have any questions. Wendy Kerner – Composition Chairman

Musical Services

I have been in contact with Meadow Ridge, Wilton and Westport Senior Centers, and other locations and they are eager to have SC members perform at their facilities. If you would like to play a full or half recital at one of these venues, please let me know and I will coordinate the events.
