 11  Friday  Professional Development. “The Last Sonatas of Schubert” with Dr. Scott Burnham and Mr. Ilya Itan. 10:00 a.m. at the Steinway Piano Gallery, 501 Post Road East, Westport. Admission $15 with advance reservation, $20 at the door. From December 1827 to September 1828, Schubert composed a wealth of piano music, culminating in his final group of three sonatas: C minor, A Major, and B-flat Major. With the help of pianist Ilya Itin, issues of lyricism, tonality, and form will be explored as they arise in these sonatas, especially in the last of them, the Sonata in B-flat, D.960

 7 Friday Awards Recital and Presentations, 7 p.m. Community Room, First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, CT. First-prize winner of Bach, Chopin, French, and Schubert competitions, and Koffler Award recipient will be expected to perform at this even. All prize-winners will be recognized and all awards will be given.
